Chumak Way Park

Project Year(s)
2016
Location
Ukraine, Kyiv region, Vita-Poshtova village
Objective
To transform a neglected green corridor along the Chumak Way into a recreational space for the local community.
Challenge
The site suffered from seasonal flooding, poor accessibility, and lack of any infrastructure. Despite its central location, it remained unused and invisible.
Solution
The project proposed a continuous riverside promenade designed as a raised terrace-walkway along the water, offering new perspectives of the stream. Seasonal programming gave the space flexibility: a winter fairground and skating area created a festive hub, while in summer the park supported everyday recreation with play zones, lawns, and quiet walking routes. The design turned a forgotten riverbank into a vibrant linear park, reconnecting residents with nature and community life.
