STUDIO

Founded in 2009, KOTSIUBA Landscape Architecture works on urban transformations and heritage-led design, as well as focused commercial projects. We specialize in transforming post-industrial legacies into solutions for today's and tomorrow's needs, converting the remnants of the past into foundations for the future.

We grew up in a post-Soviet context where urban planning prioritized institutional needs over human experience, creating places not for daily life but for symbolic authority. Decades of standardized design and suppressed local identity left many communities feeling disconnected from their environment, with places that held difficult memories rather than fostering belonging.

Rather than rejecting this legacy, we transform and channel it. We uncover history and culture layer by layer, working to heal the relationship between communities and their built environment, helping people reclaim their connection to place.

Over 15 years, we have developed deep expertise in post-industrial renewal, trauma-informed public realm design, heritage-led renovation, and mixed-use landscapes. We work as a multidisciplinary team, bringing together diverse specialists toward common goals while maintaining a selective practice—choosing distinctive projects each year and giving them our full attention. Principals lead every project hands-on, collaborating closely from concept through construction to ensure the built result matches the original idea.

Our portfolio spans more than 90 projects across six countries, with recognition from the ASLA 2025 Professional Awards — Honor Award (Urban Design) and the Landezine International Landscape Award (LILA) 2022.

We share our vision and ideas through lectures, workshops, and research across the globe, collaborating with bright minds to emphasize the role of landscape in quality of life.
